William Smellie Watson (13 March 1796 - 6 November 1874) was a Scottish painter.[1][2]

Life

His father was the artist George Watson (20 October 1766 – 24 August 1837) from Overmains in Berwickshire, the first president of the Royal Scottish Academy.

His mother was Rebecca Smellie (15 March 1764 - 5 May 1839) from Edinburgh.

William Smellie Watson was born on 13 March 1796 in Canongate, Edinburgh.

Death

He died at 10 Forth Street in Edinburgh on 6 November 1874.[5] He is buried in Saint Cuthbert's Churchyard, Edinburgh with his parents.
